We previously reported on the VR Dynamite youtube channel that early production units of the Oculus Quest contained a large enough chemical trace that it was causing skin damage.
We created that video to bring awareness to the issue and the solution Oculus had put in place.
Should your Oculus Quest 2 serial number match their criteria you could be entitled to receive a brand new FREE VR Cover replacement interface.
Eligible serial numbers will have both of the following:
- First 5 characters are ‘1WMVR’ or ‘1WMHH’
- The fourth from the last character is ‘0’ (zero)
The easiest way to check for these numbers is by opening up your Oculus app on your phone and looking for it under devices.
Well, in a recent development we've been tipped off that Amazon upon hearing of this has halted all European sales of the Oculus Quest 2 to conduct further inspection.
Oculus has responded:
“Amazon has temporarily paused selling Quest 2 in Europe, in response to an EU Commission filing this week regarding the foam interface. We shared back in April that the foam interface issue has been resolved, and we’re working closely with Amazon to have Quest 2 back on sale as soon as possible.”
Now, I know they say the issue has been resolved but that doesn't account for the numerous early production units that still remain on store shelves and in Amazon's warehouses.
We'll keep you posted on any further developments but in the meantime, go fill out the VR Cover request form to claim your free one!
