I Expect You To Die 2 (IEYTD2) places you in the well-polished shoes of an elite spy as you try to unravel the Zoraxis organisations’ plans for world domination by completing a series of diabolical puzzles.
The CEO of Schell games, Jesse Schell, tells us that “I Expect You To Die 2 builds upon everything our community loved about the first game, and we’re excited to take players on another adventure filled with espionage.”
IEYTD2 has the look and feel of a classic 1960s spy film and opens with a bond-esque intro you can check out here sung by world-renowned singer and songwriter Puddles Pity Party.
Unlike many other puzzle games, in IEYTD2 you are sure to die, and die often, in a number of unpleasant ways as you are confronted with devious traps and nefarious villains eager to take you out in a variety of elaborate ways.
For example, in the announcement trailer below we see our covert protagonist using a clipboard to block a poisoned dart and in another clip we see them dodging a swinging blade that emerges from the ceiling.
In this second installment you are pitted against six ingenious escape room type puzzles that will advance the story from the original game. The first of these missions (should you choose to accept it) is to protect the prime minister who is enjoying a theater show performed by the acclaimed actor John Juniper.
Juniper is voiced by none other than Wil Wheaton, a real-life actor who is famous for his role as the young ensign Wesley in Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as playing...well, himself, in The Big Bang Theory.

The remaining missions have not been officially revealed but from the images and trailer footage it looks like we find ourselves in a few different locations throughout the game which includes being onboard an opulent aeroplane and inside a medieval looking wine cellar complete with a suit of armour.

Schell games have also announced that IEYTD 2 will also include a speedrun mode and a souvenir card system (i.e. achievements for completing extra challenges).
Like the original game, IEYTD2 is a fully seated experience with limited movement to reduce the chances of getting VR motion sickness and create a more comfortable experience for players.
Schell Games announced recently that I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and the Liar will launch this summer on SteamVR, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation®VR headsets.
A playable demo showcasing the tutorial, a new intro credits music experience, and part of the first mission will be available June 16 on Steam as part of Steam Next Fest.
